sandyleitch's conversations

We were boating in the area last month and came upon this boat. Apochryphally, the story is, apparently, they can't find the owner and various organisations are saying it's not their problem!

This is the famous aqueduct where the canal lateral a Loire passes over the River Loire near Briare. Completed in 1896, until 2003 it was the longest navigable aqueduct in the World when it was superseded by the Magdeburg Water Bridge.

this lovely scene is, probably, the Canal du Midi. However, the pointer on the map is on a bridge over the River Aude next to the rugby stadium. The canal is 1 kilometre west and also 1 kilometre north!

a nice drink at the end of the tour

Used to go there often 50 + years ago!

The title 'Moulin Rogue' - bit of a giveaway there for Montmartre! However, we are going to the Moulin Rouge in a week's time!
