Castell Du is known by local Welsh speakers as Banc y Rhyfel(the mound of the battle)and was built by the invading Normans circa 1106 to control an important river crossing into the commote of Gwyr(Gower)

Skirrid Fawr,or the Holy mtn as it is sometimes known has a distinct feature which was supposedly said to have been done by the ark during the great biblical flood. Another story says it was done by a lightening strike at the time Jesus was crucified. The real reason of course is a huge landslip.

Stone at Carreg Wasted point, commemorating the last foreign invasion on British soil.1400 French soldiers led by an American landed here in 1797 but were defeated after 3 days by the Pembroke Yeomanry who marched from Stackpole Court to engage the enemy.
