Looking South from the top of Slacker Hill, toward San Francisco. The pano includes NE to W perspectives. Mount Diablo is the very distant peak seen on the E-SE horizon.

Looking W-SW across the meadow out of which run the headwaters of the Wind River. The continental divide runs along the dirt roadway which you see at the middle right. The Wind River flows off to the left. Two Ocean Mountain is just out of sight to the left.

The Tucson Mountains lay to the West, and the Santa Catalina Mountains are to the North. The city of Tucson is cradled in the valley between them.

Looking S towards White Bird Idaho. The newer grade running straight up the hill on the far right is US highway 95. The two most distant mountain peaks (just left of center) are Indian Mtn. and Pollack Mtn., 30 and 40 miles away respectively. The brown grass meadow at the base of the hill is the site of the Battle of White Bird Canyon. On June 17, 1877 the Nez Perce under Chief Joseph, although outnumbered 2 to 1, won a stunning victory over the US Army. The battlefield is now a historical national park maintained by the US Park Service.

I don't miss its absence in the least, - it was an ugly interruption in an otherwise gorgeous horizon.

Quite beautiful, but the map says it is called John Day Pond. It looks like Hummingbird Mountain is in the background, (if you were looking west).

The perspective matches Google Earth's approximation almost exactly, good positioning. The very sharp distant peak is Washakie Needles but the conical, rounded peak almost directly in front of it is Dome Mountain. Not sure if the sharp ridge in front of both has a name as I didn't see one on any quadrangle. County peak is out of sight off to the right somewhere.
