Our Mile's conversations

Very thanks, dear Magdalena

The story that I heard in 1940/1 about The Old Gentleman’s grave from the old hall was slightly different. When the servant rolled the stone it rolled down into a very small stream and had to be brought back up by a farmer’s horse. On the second attempt it lodged where the grave is found, I am not completely sure if a tree was involved with arresting the boulder. I stayed in a cottage a few hundred yards from the hall after the bombing of Bradford, my grandfather had to take his family there but he returned to his mill, weaving cloth for the armed forces.
