Quite a few people have died on these falls. This photo would cause a lot of grief and anger if it was posted in the local Campbell River community. I've seen people lose they're cool just for letting kids get close to the water upstream. Particularly if they've spent a few hours serving with our local Search and Rescue teams. I've got a few close friends who are frequently recovering the corpses of little rugrats like this dare-devil.

With enough vodka - they do.

Imagine, just a couple of miles to freedom.

This is a deserted Decca Navigation site. I lived in this building in the early 70's. It was built for Computing Devices of Canada to provide positioning information on Polar Continental Shelf Project working out of Tuk base camp. This was before the days of GPS. A heating stove malfunction almost killed me in this hut !
