Would be good if they got more money to reconstruct the rest of the building. I helped on the reconstruction of the barrack block and with some of the floors in the COs house
This unique, interactive sound sculpture takes the form of a large-scale stainless steel doorway, which frames the pathway and punctuates the High Street. When passing through, you ‘open the door’ to experience the sounds, songs and stories from 300 local people, including local school children and animals from Bill Quay Farm.
Movement sensors in the frame trigger the voices and recordings to play at random. The artwork is 5 metres tall and is situated at the top of Gateshead High Street near Matalan. Threshold is illuminated at night using LED lights and received a prestigious Civic Trust Award in 2004.
Excellent music venue.Beer,garden, real ale, good choice of premium lagers,pin ball,pool,regular buskers night,quiz,poker etc.
