G Lokey's conversations

A lovely view of this bay.

One of only fifteen complete Vulcans remaining in the UK and of those only one is a "flier", the mighty XH558 based at Robin Hood Airport, Doncaster. And I've photographed them all!

Another picture of my favourite aircraft bizarrely repainted as an RAF F.6 XS933!!!

This figure is cut into the hillside in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park near Kilburn. The figure is 318 feet long and 220 feet high and covers 1.6 acres and was cut in 1857. We first saw it from the A19 on our way back from York and then on our way to Pickering from Hutton-le-Hole we found the entrance at the top end. Sadly after parking at the bottom I simply couldn't get more than halfway up the steps and Carol went up to get the pics!!! To rub it in she snapped me staggering back to the car!!! This photo was taken on our way back to the A19.

A view of this village from the bridge over Hutton Beck.

A quaint little stream in this honeypot village where the sheep roam everywhere!

A wonderful museum featuring historic buildings from different eras, various trades and types and an art gallery.

The River Rye starts from Rye Head, close to the Cleveland Hills then collects the River Steph which flows along Bilsdale receiving a tributary from Snilesworth Dale before it joins the Rye. On its eastward course from Helmsley it collects the River Dove and eventually joins the River Derwent near Malton.

We saw these yellow bikes in every village and town all over Yorkshire. The Yorkies really took this occasion to their hearts!!! This one adorned a shoe-shop.
