A view down Silver Street from the High Street end.
The Silver Street "Faces" statues designed by Rick Kirby and installed in 2009.
The Harpur Centre formerly my old school, Bedford Modern School. Nice that they retained the old façade when they closed it and built a new school on the other side of the town and it looks exactly as it looked in my day! The Great Hall was on the right of the entrance and the headmaster's study was in that right corner and was a part of the school you just didn't want to visit!!!
St Paul's church.
Bedford's Corn Exchange.
The Swan hotel.
Looking down the Great Ouse and the Embankment from the town bridge with the Swan hotel on the left.
A view of the town bridge where John Bunyan was once imprisoned with St.Paul's Church in the background and the Swan hotel on the right.
Bedford's River Great Ouse with the Swan hotel on the far embankment.
This (excellent) photograph is actually the University of Cambridge's Pitt Building (formerly housing Cambridge University Press), and not Emmanuel United Reformed Church. It is rather church-like, but it isn't actually a church. Emmanuel United Reformed Church is slightly further south along Trumpington Street.
I wonder if there's any chance of changing the title of this photograph please? It seems to be automatically appearing in Google Maps, which is rather misleading! :-)
