A view of the town from the top of the Ness Headland. And the pier is not as it seems with most of being derelict so pull your finger out Teignmouth Council!!!

Shaldon is a village and civil parish in South Devon situated on the south bank of the River Teign estuary opposite the town of Teignmouth. The magnificent Ness Headland a red hued landmark feature of the South Devon coastline. Ness beach is accessed via an original Smugglers Tunnel and the cove is one of the most picturesque and secluded beaches completely enclosed by the shelter of the cliffs above.

The Teign is a river in Devon and is 50km long rising on Dartmoor. It becomes an estuary just below Newton Abbot and reaches the English Channel here at Teignmouth. The river-name Teign is attested in an Anglo-Saxon charter of 739 where it appears as Teng. The name is pre-Roman relating to the Welsh taen meaning 'sprinkling', and means simply 'stream'. So there!

...............and Mongo has now died at the age of 22!

Yeah Dave, the camera which went kaput in Croatia went kaput again and now it's gone back to Currys! So for Devon this week its the other camera with our phones as backup. I'm amazed how good the phone photos are! Four castles on the list for next week.

OK Dave, have a gander at my Someries Castle shot. Carol & I climbed over a wire fence to get in the field behind the castle and only when we were snapping away did we notice a bull in the field eyeing us up for supper! Needless to say we high-tailed it out of there sharpish! The joys of photo-taking!!!

This short ferry ride, 5 minutes, removed the need to drive around 30km of road along the northern coast of the Bay of Kotor thereby reducing the travel time between Herceg Novi and the towns of Kotor, Tivat and Budva for example. We went to Budva and then on to Kotor before returning via coach and the coastal route! As stated above!!!
