I tried to correct on Google Earth but a comment will have to do. This is the view off of Signal Mountain a little NW of Chattanooga. The Smokey Mountains are East of Chattanooga about 45 miles to the nearest driving entrance.

I know this cave well. When I was a young man (15 or so years old) I attended school across the road from the cave. The school was run by SDA's and was called Cave Springs Home and School, essentially a boarding school for SDA kids, a popular practice among that religious group. On hot days, I used to scamper into that cave and sit on the edge of the vast pool of crystal clear water which stretched out in front of me like a fantasy wonderland. A fond memory I will always cherish. I never knew how it came to be, just that it was a wonderful retreat for a boy on a hot, humid Tennessee day.
