The valley is where the Sumallo and Skagit rivers meet to continue their journey to empty into Ross Lake. You can access them at Sumallo Grove which is a park day use area. The location of the picture was taken from Skagit Bluffs looking to the west
We built this super insulated home as we lived in it over 5 years until 1986. It also had a stand alone, off grid hydro-electric system which produced most of our electricity.
These gardens are located on Arcadia's roof, a building populated by artists. The gardens are representative of various eco-systems in southern Ontario: prairie, Canadian Shield, bogs, alpine, ponds, meadow, native trees and some annual herbs and flowers.
The Rideau Canal Waterway, which links the lakes and rivers between Ottawa and Kingston, is the oldest continuously operated canal in North America. The locks are operated today much as they were when first opened in 1832.
This ice wall near the middle of the glacier is usually covered in the winter. The T-bar behind is bolted to the glacier, every few years they have to realign the towers to accommodate the glacier creep and melting.
