Capt Dan's Sail Channel Islands

Hi,
I'm Capt. Dan. I spend most of my time taking folks out sailing. We go everywhere in the Santa Barbara Channel, from Pt. Conception to Catalina.
If you're heading this way, check out our cruising guide for information about anchorages on the islands. Or, if you're not sailing your own boat, come with us.
If you have questions about sailing in southern California, the website is chock full of current information. Or just call me at 805.750.7828.
see you on the water.

Very interesting. It looks like you have done a lot of sailing. I am a boat captain myself.
Nice shot of the Saint Tropez Light.
Giant Coreopsis in the spring. Beautiful!
I'm always asked, "Can you sail through here?"
Certainly not in a sailboat and only in a kayak when it's not low tide. Lots of pieces of shredded fiberglass attest to the reef that lies across the gap and the foolhardiness of attempting to transit here.
Nice!
Cat Rock on the south shore of Anacapa Island. It's a good day anchorage if the wind is less than 15 or so.
Hi, M --
Glad you like the picture. And we're the folks who can take you to Anacapa or any of the other Channel Islands. See http://sailchannelislands.com
East end of Anacapa Island. Headland to left provides shelter for East Fish Camp anchorage.
I agree - Fall is the best time of year to sail around here, though you do have to be mindful of the Santa Anas and the occasional rainshower.
I can definitely see how it could be dangerous. I love the channel islands - I envy you being able to sail them!
