In Glasgow from 1959 to 1961. Got there before any airplanes. Played volleyball in hanger. Learned to fly with the Glasgow Aero Club in a Cessna 120. No radio. Watched that tower for Red and Green signals at take-off and landings. Much fun. Lots of stories. I could type so I volunteered to be a clerk for Lt. John W Schmidt, head of Field Maint. Got orders to cross train 12 jet engine mechanics to Auto-pilot guys. Submitted list with 11 jet engine guys and one airframe repairman currently wiring as a clerk. Got accepted. At end of training got sent to Kadena AFB as an airframe guy. Chief of Maint reassigned me to auto pilot shop. Worked on f-100's. Later found out I was the only one to make the change. Someone decided the jet engine guys had to go back to the jet engine shop. They couldn't send me back as I was in Okinawa. Separated in Sept 1962.
Great Airport Photos looked at them all . Was just looking at driving to a close Montana town from Climax and stumbled on your pix on Google maps..Thanks
Excellent photo. Captures the town's character. Makes me want to visit there.
hahaha, I was gonna upload mine but then found you already got one there! Good job!
