76 Andover residents banded together in 1886 and built Andover Creamery. Up until then each family churned their own butter by hand. The churns at the creamery were steam-powered. The company also shipped butter out to distant markets via the nearby railroad line. The company prospered until 1915, then became a general store and gas station, then demolished in 2002. A new covered bridge of the Hop River Trail, a hiking and bicycle trail running from Bolton Notch down to Columbia Connecticut. [HOP RIVER CORRIDOR]
