No surprise! I stayed there a few times. Mike was a decent bloke but seemed in danger of losing the plot. Shame though! Wonderful impromptu ceilidhs! Kinloch Hourne is one of the most magical places I know. First time I went there was in 1984 in a hired camper van. No shop or B&B in those days! I stayed there just watching the light change until I ran out of food and water.

Rare photo. Like, Neil
Added a couple of photos to show what brand new Michelins do or do not do (survive) on this road ..
I took a picture of that famous building on a business trip. I did not visit. As a francophone Quebecer, I'm more familiar with french authors. Thanks for the info.
stunning photo beautiful light and tone LIKE* im going to the islands in may, cant wait it looks absolutely amazing !!!
I also read David Yeardon's book Basilicatta and was so excited that I had to visit Aliano and pay my tributes to Carlos Levi. He was a wonderful man. I met a few people in Aliano and am sure that I am now a better person.

Ah, Roeli, you must try to go into a deep hypnotic state, then think about the journey and where it began, concentrate on the names of the stations you passed through.
Only when you have the information will you be able to reveal the full journey.
I have done the journey only once each way in my life, but I can remember most of it - yes it was a truly wonderful and memorable trip!
