Ian Stehbens's conversations

Greetings Jim,

On a recent visit to Europe I was surprised by the extent to which Belgium's farmers have taken to solar panel - it seemed about a 30% takeup rate. Turkey's climate will eventually induce their government to move in that direction.

All my power is solar.

Thank you Licen. I was truly greatful for the various journeys I made in PRC in 1975, 1976, 1978 and 1983. China has ever since been part of me and the memories are greatly treasured. I am pleased to be able to provide historical images of the Three Gorges.

Greetings from Australia,

Warmest Greetings Berend, Bryan and Füsun.

I have never made my African photography public, but this particular experience was so outstanding that I have finally uploaded one. Everything about and around Victoria Falls was so special. The people we met, our unexpected encounter with a heard of elephants when we were walking a footpath, the bungee jumping, the train, the flights, the hotel, the cruises, the encounters with HIV Aids orphans, the troupes of actors doing HIV-Aids Education in rural villages, the awesome falls, the abounding wildlife, the regular Zambians who were seeing their falls for the first time... and more...

A year later some friends from Australia were visiting their daughter who was working in an orphanage in Harare, made the trip to the Falls but to their very great disappointment the Falls were dry! Not a drop was spilling! The awesome gorge is not so stunning when it is silent!

Greetings Wan. Some of my Jakarta friends told me many years ago that their favourite part of Indonesia was Maluku. I trust the wounds from past conflict are continuing to heal in Ambon.

And I love your island too, Phillip. The people, waterfalls, food, forests and turtles... al wonderful.

Magnifique, YSL.
Bonne journée, Serge.
