The weather may not have been as perfect as this but the change and the breaking light from the west made it special for us and for our photography, dear Maja. Thank you. I can never stop thanking you.

Oo we did, Anna. Istanbul is a remarkable city, huge and pulsing with life, colour and movement all the time, layer upon layer of contrasting history, experiencing rapid change as the economy becomes robust partly through the strategic location that has always coloured its history, and partly because of the developing economies of central Asian nations.

Loved the archaeology, the art, the architecture.

And we were there to see the beginning of the present disquiet and unease.

But best of all was the fact that we had wonderful and generous hosts who also understood their history, culture and political scene.

Warm regards from Australia,

Ian

Thankyou Finn. Being one of my last afternoons in Istanbul when this was taken, it will always feel like a farewell photo but one that keeps the experience alive in my mind. The Blue Mosque is deservedly a remarkable icon.

Hallo Karin, dank je voor je fijne compliment en YSL. Ze zitten vooral in Rietvelden. Kijk eens op Waarneming.nl of ze bij jou in de buurt zijn gezien. Wie weet kun je ook een schieten. Groeten Berend
