Yes, Berend, a strong ridge along the east coast was generating blustery, moist winds onshore, creating fog as the air lifted over this range of hills. The tower was built for the forestry department as a fire tower. Today, firetowers are not manned anymore as cameras can be monitored remotely. Some of the towers are now used for the mobile telephone network and other communications systems.
