Ian Stehbens's conversations

Dear Berend,

We did this walk without a guide, Berend, and here it was clear that the moat was an important part of the defences, but as you can see the wall crosses hills (background) and behind me, for example and I couldn't quite work out how the moat worked. On reading, I have learnt that for most of the length of the moat it was merely a wide ditch without water - a sort of no man's land before the outer wall.

Regards,

Ian

Thanks Berend. I found the walls impressive, and this mosque impressive as well.

Warm regards,

An in-camera stitch job Karin for this one. I think it was around 8 to 10 frames from memory. I was a happy chappy when I saw the result. cheers GT

Dear Berend,

I was surprised to find few images of the walls on Panoramio, Berend. In this area the photos are all of the Aya Sofia Church/Mosque/Museum and of the Topkapi Palace and other landmark buildings. So I am pleased to add a little on the wall.

Ian
