Ha! City of Oulu has these orange loan bikes that everyone can take and sometimes the bikes are found in the strangest places.

Nah, it's local artwork. The island hasn't changed much since 1995. However, a bridge will be built soon, so now more ferry rides then (or driving on the ice road). I hope you liked your visit!

Then you've seen more of Lapland than I have! Travelling mostly by bicycle, the vast distances between places makes travelling in Lapland a bit too challenging for me. Have to agree about Saarijärvi; the others I'm not familiar with.
