No trail at that point. We left the Orebed Brook Trail about 1/2 a mile above the leanto, then followed the brook that drains the North face. Once we got as far up the face as we safely could (without needing climbing gear), we cut left through the trees until we got to a finger of the True North Slide, which is just north of this North face. Climbed up to the top of the True North, where it meets the top of the North face. A great climb!
Hey thats the old bridge! Washed away in 2011 from Irene. I got to help build the new one this past summer!! We did it right, that thing will be there for decades.
WoWWWWW!!! I hiked twenty of the forty-six this summer, but not Dial yet. Cannot wait to get there after seeing this amazing photo! Is that all blowdown in the foreground? Its funny you know, the guidebook says one thing, but this photo says another. Very underated it seems.
