I visited all alledged ''dharmasalas'' (Houses with Fire) in December. Will update my old article as a chapter in a book.
Are you still in Cambodia? I will be in Siam Reap in July doing a few days field-research. Please send me a mail - and let's meet: Asger Mollerup / firstname.lastname@example.org
Hi Jim. There are 3 towers - I understand ... Standing in a row? Surrounded by a u-shaped pond? And a baray to the east?
Do you have any information about the mountain hereof? Ancient gold mines?
This is on the north west of Angkor Wat, a chapel built by Jayavarman 7. It is calles Ta Prohm Kel. U can see on ur left side of u go to Phnom Bakheng.
Yes to be exact it is in Batheay district, the big rock on ur left hand side of u go from PP.
Allan, I have another pic of it posted in my photos when it was overgrown. I was unsure if it was one of the same as I had accessed it from a different location at the time. Looking closer it is the same prasat. The locals on the east had called it Weil Somdai and the sign and access on the west called it Tropeah Somdai. Looking at US bombing maps from the Vietnam War, it is located in a pretty heavily bombed zone and I imagine that is the reason for its condition.
as I read it in CISARK, it is called Veal Somdey. I am going to my hometown for the new year and will spot it for sure. Merry X'mas and Happy New Year!
thx Jim for ur reply. I ll get contact to ur mail after I get a dirtbike, maybe early next year.
i was just at there a the right time. actually among those people who stood infront of the temple and were praying, i know only one who is my brother. the other just happened to come here for praying with a monk.
i see, it would be good if we could go out exploring the temples together. i am planning to get a dirt bike. actually i went to the cave a few months ago, just find time to upload it here.
it is like i have misunderstood ur caption. u said 2 at the base and the 3 i was talking about is the one on the top u did mention in ur last comment. :)
