Well. so much for trusting the map (page 292) in my 2002 Lonely Planet-NZ guide book. Still not much information on the internet what river that is. I guess I don't get a road map on that trip to reference. Fortunately there is information about the Makatote River Viaduct which locates the river. I had shot a picture of the tracks which also captured a control shed with the name Makatote on it. The only problem was the last 2 letters were blocked out. Now it all makes sense. Thanks!!

This is because I've updated the location on Panoramio and Google has yet to make the change. Back in the Fall of 2007 when I posted the photo, the aerial photo of this area was of lower quality. In addition, I think I marked the location of the subject of the photo and not the location where I was standing back in June of 2003.
