Playhouse Theatre at 727 15th Street, NW was built in 1907 and designed by Paul Pelz. Originally one-story, it was (until its rooftop addition in the 80s) the smallest building in the Fifteenth Street Historic District but one of the most ornate. Pelz is best known for his design with John L. Smithmeyer, of the Library of Congress (1889-97)
