Thanks for your comment ^^ many natives are often confused as well by their own language -apart from plenty of dialects. Between dutch and german we have many "false friends": (almost) similar words, different meanings. Plattdeutsch is easier :-)

Apparently an older painting ("religeous schizophrenia") was simply painted over. A rather barbarous act, even if it wasn't very good.
