Thank you for your kind comment. I worked in Sierra Leone for an UN project, trying to provide Sierra Leoneans with fuelwood from natural forests without destroying these forests.

In my collection I have more photos of Sierra Leone, for example here.

Although it was a bit difficult (no electricity most of the time, the same with water), I have very fond memories of my time there. I have great respect for all Sierra Leoneans, having to live through a terrible civil war.

For the best part of a year I lived in the upstairs appartment of the building on the right, the one with the bright blue walls. Great place, Syangja, but not really. Au contraire! (Even before it became a "Maoist stronghold".)

The name means bridal veil: appropriate! Beautiful & quiet place, as long as no missionaries show up. It also has a resident hammerhead stork, which fishes in the pool below the waterfall.
