Interesting Comments. I wanted the caldera to be legit.

These are interbedded basin sediments (lacustrine and fluvial) and ash-fall deposits. This stuff is around ~15-14 Ma and were deposited in the Oregon-Idaho graben. The Owyhee caldera does not exist- it's the Lake Owyhee volcanic field.

Actually, this roadcut illustrates the basal breccia of a rhyolite lava flow, flowing into wet-sediment/water. It's not a Nuee Ardente and the "Owyhee Caldera" does not exist.

That rock has drill marks on it.

This is actually at the turnout on Lewiston Hill looking towards Spalding. Arrow is actually about 13 miles from where this photo was taken.
