Actually this wasn’t a temple. This building was something else entirely which also held a prominent position in any Roman inspired city. This was the ”Macellum” – a place for shopping and you can see the little shops that lined the outer perimeter of this market.

You have focused on the very center of the Macellum and you may have thought this to be an altar since you came to the conclusion that this was a temple – however it was with all probability a water feature.

you've been to some fascinating places -- thanks for the photos. this one reminded me of a stamp from Soa Tome I had in my childhood collection -- I never made it there. I did get to visit Barbados, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands though... :-)

what got me to visit your collection was that when I tagged my just taken photo with "lightning" I noticed that you must have done the same, only a few seconds later... yours are more interesting photos, mine was just an accident! :-)

Wow, I love that prints like these have been sitting there for so many millions of years.

I saw some really good ones in the Sahara - Link

This looks like the view from Taj Talha Hotel, I'm uploading some of my own photos from there and I think its actually located at 15°21'15.40"N, 44°12'46.57"E. You can see the mosque's dome just to the east.

Nice place though, hope you enjoyed it as much as I did :)
