This is overlooking Hiawassee, Georgia.
This is not in the Cohutta Wilderness, Georgia; it is on the Ocoee River, in Tennessee west of Ducktown.
He died in a hunting accident and was buried where he fell. He was 15years and eight months old.

Without digging up the metadata, I'd say 1996 or 97.
Where this old steam engine was photographed was a dismal looking work area with a very ugly freeway overpass and other distracting background features. I used PhotoShop to remove the distractions and then pasted them onto pleasing backgrounds. I can send copies of the originals if you want them.
As a boy I climbed on a dredger. I'd say it was a pretty tough job running them, with all the heavy cables you can still see down by the san juan rapids for tying them down. My second visit to the dredger in Rancho Cordova was dissapointing, watching the ship breakers tear it down. I'd love to see the dredger in Oregon. Thanks badmoonryzn for the tip, I'll try to make it up there sometime.
