This is bird rock, the iconic rock seen from Laguna's Main Beach. It was once the outer anchor for the Laguna Pier, which was destroyed in the tropical storm of September 1939.
I believe this was called the Ansonia Hotel when I lived near here in the '70s. A Food City supermarket was on the ground floor, I believe. It looked like a wedding cake then——quite macabre.
