Traveller42 ABOUT ME Born in the mid 1960s. German. Rhinelander. Living near Cologne. Married. ON TAKING PICTURES I started taking pictures on a regular basis briefly after those low fare airlines really took off in my country. For the first couple of years, I borrowed my dad's analogue Pentax whenever I travelled. Just recently, I rediscovered some pictures I had taken much earlier - in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It came as quite as surprise to me that I still had some scans of such old pictures. In 2004, I bought a Kodak CX7525, initially as a Christmas present to my wife. It turned out I used the camera most of the time, so my wife suggested a deal: a posh pair of sun glasses in exchange for the camera. Fine with me. And now, for Christmas, I got a Panasonic DMC-TZ31. Of course I have to get used to a lot of new functions - like zooming while filming, wow... ;-) I even got my first tripod along with it... Fortunately, my job required me to travel a lot in 05 and 06 - it still does sometimes, but not as frequently anymore. That gave me the opportunity to visit some places I would likely have missed otherwise. My main intention is to present places I had the fortune to visit. And the older I get, the more it occurs to me that this does not necessarily require a plane ride somewhere. If it is really age or any other reason, I don't know - what I've come to sense is that beautiful places are sometimes to be found just around the corner. THIS GALLERY More than 4,000 pictures, and still growing... For first time visitors, such numbers might make it a bit difficult to find their way around here. So I have some tags that can make it a bit easier, I hope. The "best" tag partly contains pictures that fullfill certain minimum requirements regarding the number of yellow stars or likes. These pictures are there permanently. Most, however, will be exchanged every fortnight or so, from two pools of pictures I consider particularly worth looking at. I also have some theme related tags like churches, castles etc., which I try to implement in my whole gallery. As these tags have been created just a couple of months ago, there is still some work for me to be done. Most of these tags at least contain those pictures in the "best" category, as well as pictures added just recently. I invite you to use the tags if you are interested in specific topics.
