What is it about Cronise Mountain (or is it Cat Mountain? I've seen both names) that causes a big pile of sand to accumulate in just that one place?

I remember that hill from my southbound ODP walk this summer. It's a deceptively tough climb, and there are some real killers on the path further south. Beautiful, though.

I'm pretty sure that's Lock 75.

That looks like Lock 75 to me.

I tried to reach that point but my mountain bike chain broke! I'll try again someday.

Those are Roman earthworks (ditch and vallum), and also a Roman quarry site used during the era of Hadrian's Wall.
