I think I see in this photo what AnonymousKiwi (Lisa) meant with "sad" - it's in the expression made by the shape of the nose and the cockpit windows ...
Maybe the A380 is sad about being the climax and zenith of a long line of development - I have read that future mega-planes will no longer follow the pattern of a long tubular fuselage, but that of a flying wing. It is more efficient (lighter structure because the cargo load and the wings aren't separated), but only controllable with massive computer assistance. Well, that's what every bird does easily and continuously - adjusting its aerodynamics ...
