Thank you so much!
Even a utility can be beautiful when viewed with an open mind.

Another solution to the backlight problem ... shoot on a cloudy day
Nope. I believe the building is used by the adjacent church. Sunset Whitney was annexed into the City of Rocklin long ago. Rocklin has three modern fire stations. I have a picture of only one of them, number 3. Number 2 has no parking and number 1 is backlit in the afternoons. I have to take an early morning bike ride to Rocklin one of these days, via Roseville #6.
Like, nice view!
Sometime around September 2014 all the trees here were cut down and the area was leveled to become a new residential neighborhood. (The north side of the Boulevard was leveled a year ago.)
You have taken such a wonderful series of pictures along the creeks and wetlands in this area. This is my personal favorite.
Update: the Modoc Railroad Academy is history. All the engines, cars and even the tracks are gone. :-(
By the way, a small section of Sacramento Northern Railway still exists near Yuba County Airport south of Marysville. It serves as a part of a spur to Pearson. I took some photos there last year; I'll publish them soon, or later, maybe.
Really cool historic photo!
