I remember seeing this from the other side.
Thankyou. There have always been deer on this island, though it is much smaller now, the North and East parts have eroded away. This was as close as I could get before the water was too shallow, then I drift by quietly on the tide to get the shot.
Dracula had a place just a few miles up the coast from here, at Whitby.

The ruined stone structure in the foreground was part of the St Marys Chapel. It was much larger, with three towers. In 1648, during the English Civil War, there was a siege on the castle. The Parliamentarian soldiers demolished the Eastern part because it was in the way of one of their cannons which aimed at the castle. You can see the ruined castle keep in the background on the right of the picture.
Looks like they got around to replacing this sign.
