Hi Phil, I wonder how this building would stand up to the shaking we had here in ChCh on 22 Feb 2011...
Other buildings of similar vintage did not remain intact, I'm afraid. The horizontal forces combined with the up and down movement put paid to so many old style buildings, as well as much more modern ones.
