I spent 18 mos. here from 1953 to 1954. I was the first sucessful escapee from Preston School of Industry in over 10 yrs. I stole the "Fenceriders" horse and rode it on my way to Lodi Ca. I also hichiked but I made it.
Peekhill is correct, that this is not a photo of Butte Mountain. Rather it's a residence on Butte Mountain Road, which runs around the side of Butte Mountain from Jackson up to by Lake Tabeau, connecting to either Clinton road or Pine Grove, depending.
