My father (may he rest) was one of the people who constructed/fabricated this first stainless steel amphibian airplane. As he told me, there were two constructed at the Budd company in Philadelphia. One flew, he said, and the other was placed here, at the Franklin Institute. I work in Center City Philadelphia (an attorney) and each day pass this airplane on my drive home. Each day I think of dad when I pass the Franklin Institute.
