This lock fence is located next to 3 churches and a school, where lots of kids pass daily. I think its just something that caught on as a fad. Initially, someone put a lock there and people just started adding old locks for fun. There is no special symbolism to it, although now it has begun to look like some sort of modern art experiment. It is helped by the way the photo was taken, but if you are there walking by it, it doesn't look that impressive or artistic. In fact, it looks sort of more like vandalism of public property. That's what I thought when I first saw it, but after seeing this photo, I said to myself "I know that place". It's also next door to a Bank of America to the east on Hollywood Blvd.
This is an Armenian church, that has recently undergone a massive enlargement of their facility, that includes an underground parking structure with a multi-story building on top (to right of photo).
Oddly, this Lebanese restaurant was previously an auto tire shop that sold used tires and installed them while you wait for about $20-$25. In the same complex, across is a large laundry mat. I have been documenting the changes in this area for the past decade with photos. If interested, please see my other photos.
Originally, I thought this was a Turkish restaurant, because of the hat logo on their sign, but I realized that it probably wasn't, because its not likely that the owners would build a Turkish restaurant bordering an Armenian neighborhood (Little Armenia), a block away.

Bikeracer, lots more detail than I ever knew. Thanks. And yes, it explains why there's so little detail.

Hummm . . . a fair if unsolicited assessment of Mimi's Cafe. But isn't Panoramio about the photos? Jay Jenkins
I agree. I appears that in mid 2013, construction will begin on a Target store just west of the old Dennys location.
This is the new Cedars Sinai Hospital. Very nice!

The iconic Capital Records building stands in the background.
This old hotel was used as a backdrop in several Hollywood movies. The one that comes to mind first is "Little Nikita".

This company is out of business at this location (2012). The house to the left was recently burned down. Now it is a parking lot.
