The most loved / hated bridge in Miri! In the old days, this is the only road to get to Miri Hospital during the night. It is also a vital bridge for thousand of people who work at Lutong, or the rich who play at the golf club. Yet, after about half a century, it is still a single lane bridge! Here you can see, I have to stop when cars coming from the peninsular side. In fact, some said it is so vital that it can never never be shut down to even build a new bridge! To me, it has become a historical place of Miri.

小時候，曾經和朋友騎著腳踏車，老遠的經過叢林泥路跑到這裡來，對這個位於美里青年徒植區的灌溉水道閘門感到很好奇。可能因當時實在太小了，印象中這個水閘是多麼的高大，它閘下的那條河是多麼的闊呀！後來，長大了，騎著摩托車再來這裡，它好像缩小了。再後來有一天，駕著車經美里捷道去 Pujut 時，竟然發現它就在路邊而已！現時的它已經那麼不起眼，路過的人也不會多望一眼。而我，停下來，站在它面前，卻還依希記得二十幾年第一次見到它時的那種震撼感覺，還有對童年的回憶…

這張相片是在國際大酒店 (Park Hotel) 內望向美里市中心的南端。右邊的白色大廈就是美里的第一座十層以上的大廈，電星大廈 (Wisma Pelita Tunku)。在它還未建時，國際大廈是當時最高的。右下角可以見到市區巴士站。這個地區原是美里最熱鬧的地區，因為在此附近的山上原是住了數千人的非常木屋區，再加上當時的巴士站也是長途巴士總站，人流極大，也帶旺了附近地區的商業活動。後來，非法木屋拆遷了，長途巴士站搬到 Pujut 去，而這個地區已經漸漸的靜了下來。
