This is taken from the northwest corner, just over the single lane bridge. Built in 1922-23, it's remarkably elegant.
Impulse turbine tailraces are so much more calm and simple than reaction based tailraces
The gratings in the lower section of the powerhouse wall are the outlets from the pelton wheel turbines. Not a lot happening here, nor has there been for some time, judging by the ooze buildup.
I had ideas of walking up the penstock line to the surge talk but that lower section is on about a 40˚ slope!
