"R" Hill. Students put this there and upkeep it. In the 1950's after Christmas people would bring their Christmas trees up here and have a big bonfire. How fun. You could see it from all over town. This is on the south side of Rawlins

That is Elk Mountain with the snow on it to the east. That mountain was perfectly framed in the center of our kitchen window for the 15 years we lived there.

This is Immanuel Lutheran (LCMS) at Middle Creek at Garland, east of Seward.

St. Paul United Methodist Church is in the foreground.

This church is actually located in Emerald, NE (a western suburb of Lincoln) on NW 126th Street, just off the western shore of Pawnee Lake.

First Congregational built this building but merged with Plymouth Congregational to become First Plymouth. [www.firstplymouth.org/Pages/about_history] 1930 this building was sold to First Lutheran. Details are in a book Nebraska Conference History by Charles Frederick Sandahl, pp. 229-236

This is the former chapel for Central Lutheran Theological Seminary, that provided pastoral training for the Nebraska Synod and the Midwest Synod of the United Lutheran Church in America (now ELCA). The seminary merged with LSTC in Chicago in the 1960's. This is on the grounds of the old Nye mansion in Fremont.
