Those back legs sort of don't look like they'd support this much weight, do they? What a massive, gorgeous animal. They go where they want to go....pretty much all the time!
Hi Chuck, on a whim I decided to check this out. I was a bit heartsick for Loretto and all the great times I had there when I'd stay there each summer as a kid and a teen. You may know or remember actually, my kin. My paternal grandparents were named EWING....Carl and Anna. They farmed southwest of Loretto a couple miles. My late father was the youngest of their 3 children...my Dad was Randall Ewing. We lost him to cancer at age 66, which happened way back in '93. The eldest child of Carl and Anna was Marion Ewing, who forever was married to my Uncle Wayne Sanford. We lost Marion to a stroke in '07, and we just buried her husband, my Uncle Wayne Sanford up in Albion a year ago this past October. The middle Ewing son was my Uncle Raymond Ewing. He lived in Colorado with his wife Ethel Schliesser, who was a Fullerton gal, and they're both gone now too. Raymond passed about 3 years ago and was buried in a military cemetery in Denver. Now, you'd probably know the Sanford "kids"....there are 4 of them, and they all graduated from Albion High. I'm close to all of them. The eldest is Craig, who is a real estate mogul in Phoenix, Cindy, who is an audiologist in Kearney, Bryan, a bank exec up in O'Neill and finally Connie, who is in the eyewear business and married to the chief of Police in Broken Bow. I'm pretty close to all of them, and I get back to Nebraska each spring as I'm a long-time storm chaser who is part of a team that "works" tornado alley each spring. Between storm systems, if we have a couple days off....I head to either Bryan's, Connie's, or Cindy's, and try to hook up with each of them at least once before heading back home to Arizona. Nice photos you've got here, Chuck. Sure makes me wish it were spring or summer and I had a plane ticket to Omaha. joel ewing Tucson arizona
