Elaine, few seem to realize it is the largest fortification in Europe still in use as a military base. I photographed approximately 5,000 of the Regimental Museum's collection of objects for a digital record, as a volunteer, some years ago, so I know Fort George well!

I remember when this was the Shahbagh Hotel back in the late 1950s/early 1960s.

Marvelous view!F15&L151

Home Jan 1971-Jan 1972 revisited 44 years later - in surprisingly good shape considering the passage of all those years.

I am not sure when Lungla was established as a garden but I know the Deundi burra bungalow was built in the 1890s. Both burra and chota bungalows in tea, in Sylhet at any rate, all seemed to have some form of verandah, and thatched roofing material.

Fannybaws92 Thanks for the spelling correction!
