It does have that old style schoolhouse look to it. To contrast this check out the one at this address (looks like someone just slapped a few ornate windows to a garage and called it church!): http://www.panoramio.com/photo/64585741
The 1st thing about architecture I plead the 5th on. Never have been in there to eat. Did eat at Martin's Restaurant (subject of a previous post and located across the street) the morning before I took this shot.
Went here looking for this courthouse but was not sure this was it. Not the 1st time I've been spun-around in a city trying to locate the subject of my hunt.
This is what I thought when I saw it. The camera does not do justice to it's immensity.
Actually they went even further than shown here. Built in 1894 the dome originally had a large copper flame coming out the top. That was taken down recently for fear it would fall. It's currently in storage.
Thanks Chris, This was a nice surprise while out pic-hunting on a Sunday morning. john
Thank you Chris, I was on such a tight schedule I never did sit down here to enjoy the little park.
Holy cow. It looks like it was designed by the same guy who designed the FBI Headquarters in DC. It's an uncanny likeness if someone else designed it.
Nice one. Steeple is awesome against that sky! L&F
