The name of beach is "Praia da Malveira"...

unfortunately that is true, when the winter is hard with bad weather the sand go out, but you could monitorize annually the quantity of sand using Google earth.

Beyond the question of sand, this beach has another attraction, that is a little lagoon with hundreds of "sea nuts" (http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echinoidea).

The lagoon as more or less 10m x 3m with a hight depth of 2m, sand on bottom and is placed on North of little bay near of it edge.

On the high tide, the lagoon are in conection with the sea, but with the low tide, the lagoon retains the water and the top of water stay 2 meters above the sea level.

look in Google earth and you will find the green of water through the bottom of cliffs.

You must walk on the big and smooth stones and don´t look up.

Seems that you will back even without sand...
