I'm an amateur photographer who on the odd occasion is at the right place at the right time. I have been taking pictures since I was about eight years old using a hand-me-down 110 Instamatic. I've also had a Pentax Zoom 90-WR, Kodak Z740, and now a Kodak Z990 digital camera. I enjoy taking pictures of flowers (especially wildflowers), lighthouses, waterfalls, architecture, and other things I find interesting, which is just about everything. My profile picture is a self-portrait taken outside Voodoo Doughnuts in downtown Portland Oregon, July 2013.

Very interesting architecture! Not what you expect to see in the U.S.

Good for a day's supply of tiny wiggling morsels, Irina.

A trap for young, acrobatic flies.

Haha, worker safety! The story might even be available free online - I haven't looked, though. Enjoy it and one of my favorite short-story writers.

I think it's my favorite, too. Really remarkable bas relief details of Oregon life (loggers, etc) and all those fabulous Art Deco faceted zigzags. Quite "big city!"

It's a little tucked back from Main St., so you wouldn't notice it unless you thought to ask for it. I've only been inside a couple of times and this time decided to take myself on a little tour. (A man, who I suspected later might have been the post master, was hanging around me for awhile and might have been suspicious. That's where being a white-haired old lady helps!). The interior is surprisingly pretty, in a gov't-building way, lots of polished marble trim, terra cotta floor tiles, arched windows and those great old brass boxes. The exterior is where they really pulled out the stops - haha! Glad you like it, Pamela!

I completely agree, Pamela! I suspect that our 1930s buildings were financed with help from Depression WPA money, or something like that. Then of course, during the war they got considerably more boring and unattractive. Anyway, that's how I analyze it without really knowing for sure. I wonder if it's the same in Pendleton.

Hell Ralph, its a digital image shot on low light, it rains a lot here. ;-) Thanks for your comments.
