Mima, Около башни протекает небольшая речка, впадающая в Пскову, Весною эта речка переполняется водою, которая, стекая по крутому уклону, сильно шумит, „гремит", почему речка, по всей вероятности, называлась ;;Гремячая“; от речки получила название соседняя гора, и от горы расположенная на ней башня.
