This lighthouse when it was originally built in
the 1890's was located almost at water's edge.Since
then, nearly one half mile of sand has been deposited between the lighthouse and the water.

This is the backside of the dam. It is used only for flood control. As a result, for most of the year there is no water backed up behind the dam.
