Home of the Penlee lifeboat which went to the aid of the Union star which had got into trouble off the Cornish coast on the 19th December 1981. Unfortunately that night the weather was foul and all souls on the lifeboat and the Union Star where lost.

The lifeboat station is maintained to this day as a memorial to those who gave their lives to rescue others. RIP
